Final Chapter: Chaos returns

"Sssso you poniessss made it through all of the trialssss. That'ssss too bad, becausssse now I will have to disssposssse of you mysssself." The cloaked reptile spoke and the group readied for the fight. The cloaked reptile extended an arm and shot out a bunch of snakes at the group causing them to scatter. Starry used his magic and flung the snakes away while Sonic, Cloudy, and Night tried to rush the reptile minion but he slinked out of the way and shot its tongue out grabbing Cloudy by his hide leg and swung him around and threw him into Sonic and Night. "Give it up; you poniessss are no match for me." The servant of Discord said and Cedar jumped and slammed the ground hard causing it to shake some, throwing the servant off balance. Madness and Starry created a chain of magic and wrapped it around him and tied him up. "Oh I think you might be a little off in your judgment of our capabilities." Starry said rubbing his hoof against his chest and chuckled. Suddenly the servant slid through the chain and swung his tail hitting Starry and sending him clear across the room. "And you have no idea what you poniesss are dealing with." The servant said. Sonic caught Starry before he landed and Cloudy and Cedar tried to rush the servant again. This time when the servant tried to slink out of the way, Cedar jumped back and landed on his tail before he had the chance to grab Cloudy again and Cloudy whirled around and slammed into the servant, pulling him across the room and into a wall. "You poniesss are sstarting to get on my nervesss." The servant said and slid through Cloudy's grasp and slithered over to Discord and zapped him with some more life energy. The whole group charged forward and tackled the servant and held him to the ground. "It's over! We aren't letting Discord come back!" Sonic exclaimed but the servant laughed. "Your too late poniessss."
He said and suddenly the statue of Discord exploded sending all of them flying.  Discord emerged from the rubble and let out a yawn. "Well now, that is more like it. Good work Slake; I just might reward you for all your hard work." Discord said to his servant and the servant slinked over and bowed down to him. "Oh thank you massster." Slake said and Discord put his hand on him and suddenly Slakes body began to grow and the cloak fell over revealing a reptile monster with the head of a snake, the arms of a lizard, the claws  and feet of a Terex and the tail  and body of a dragon. The group picked themselves up and gasped as they saw Slake. "What…is he?" Cloudy asked and Starry shook his head. "I don't know, I've never seen anything like him before." Starry said. "Well whatever the case, we have to stop Discord before he gets away!" Sonic exclaimed and Discord looked at the group amused. "My my, aren't you all adorable? I'm a little surprised to see you here instead of Twilight and her friends." Discord said in an amused tone. "Twilight and the others are busy keeping ponyville safe so where here to stop in their place!" Cedar exclaimed and Discord laughed. "Oh my now that is rich. You six are going to stop me? Come now you don't even have the elements of Harmony. What could you possibly hope to do?" Discord asked. "How about this!" Sonic exclaimed and rushed forwards only to get sent flying back from a hit from Slake. "I don't think ssso poniessss. You won't even have the chanccce to touch my masssster." Slake said with a grin. "Oh really? Well Slake, I think you are forgetting one thing." Starry said and Slake looked at him puzzled. "And what would that be?" He asked. "There is six of us and one of you!" Suddenly Cedar and Madness rushed him from both sides and just as he was about to swing at Madness, Night shine tackled him head on and then teleported before he had a chance to retaliate and then was suddenly rammed on both sides but Cedar and Madness. Slake gave a loud roar of anger and swung his tail at them. Madness had teleported away while Cedar had jumped the tail and then bucked him in the side causing him to lose his balance and take a few steps back. Cloudy and Sonic then flew around him at a high speed and spun him around and lifted him into the air and let him drop down where Starry had prepared a trap that hit him as soon as he got close enough, sending him flying into the wall where he slid down knocked out. The group came together again and high hooved but then a suddenly blast of chaos magic sent them flying.
Discord stepped forward clapping his hands and had an amused smile on his face. "Well now I must admit that was quite the show, you certainly proved you're not like all those other ponies that just sat back and let Twilight and her little friends face me." Discord said still in an amused tone. Panting heavily, Sonic Sound picks himself up off the ground and glares at Discord. "You won't win Discord! I won't let you hurt my friends or anypony else!" Sonic exclaimed angrily taking an offensive stance, raising his wings and dragging his right front hoof on the ground under him threateningly, but Discord simply looks at the Pegasus with an amused smile. "My my, aren't you full of energy? I would have thought you'd be tuckered out by now. You and your little friends proved quite entertaining my lad but I fear your just starting to grow dull to me. Why not just sit back and enjoy the chaos? It's not like any of you can stop me." Discord said in an amused tone and Sonic snorted angrily. Seeing what Sonic was about to do, Night Shine was about to try to hold him back but she was to late as Sonic Sound took off at an alarming speed at Discord, and tried ramming him but Discord simply slinked his body out of the way and grabbed Sonic's hind leg with his tail and pulled him around so that the two where face to face. "Now now, you seem to have a bit of a temper problem my dear boy. But it seems that you are really intent on beating me but I have a much better idea." Discord said, his tone darkening slightly along with his grin. Suddenly a black cockatrice appeared in his hand and he held it up to Sonic's eyes so the two made eye contact. "Seeing as you ponies locked me away in stone twice, let's see how you like it." Discord said with the same dark tone. Slowly the stone began to sneak up sonic's body as he attempted to break wriggle about and break free.
"Sonic!" His friends exclaimed and some of them attempted to charge in but suddenly a large crack in the ground appeared, separating Discord and Sonic from the others and small sharp rocks floated all about in the air so none of them could fly over. Starry Night attempted to teleport to the other side but was blocked by a magical barrier and sent flying back into the others. "Ah, ah, ah. You ponies need to learn your lesson." Discord chastened and then looked back at Sonic as he continued to try and break free. The stone finally reached his neck and then finally enclosed on his face, holding his terrified expression, ceasing his movement completely. Suddenly the crack in the ground and the barrier vanished and Discord tossed the now stone Sonic Sound over to his friends and he landed with a loud thud in front of them on his side. The quickly rushed over to him and, Night shine and Starry Night tried to turn him back to normal with their magic but to no avail. "No…..Sonic." Night Shine choked out with tears flowing down her face. "You…you monster!" Cloudy Pops exclaimed glaring at Discord angrily. "Now really, there's no need for name calling, that's just hurtful. Oh and by the way, this wasn't your average run of the mill Cockatrice, it was a chaos one, meaning there is no cure for its stone gaze." Discord said with a laugh. Starry night kept trying to restore Sonic while Cedar Wood attempted to put Sonic on his hooves. As the others were working, Madness came over and began laughing causing the others to look at him with shock. Madness walked up to Sonic and poked him in the side. "Funny….trick done, back you turn now." He spoke to sonic but Sonic remained still and unchanging and Madness simply repeated what he did before. "Madness….it's not a trick….Sonic is gone." Cedar Sad sadly and Madness looked at him confused. "What gone? Him go no, he here." Madness spoke but Night Shine put her hoof on Madness' shoulder and shook her head. "No Madness, gone as….no longer living." Starry said, letting a few more tears slide down her face. Madness was still confused as he had never experienced something like this before. "Not living? How not? Sonic, stop trick." Madness said poking Sonic once again causing him to tumble over, still frozen in his stone state. Madness walked over to him and bent down and sniffed him and his pupils shrank. The smell was different, it didn't move, it didn't flow, it was…empty. He quickly backed up and shook his head, not wanting to think of the emptiness. "No no, no no. No empty!" Madness exclaimed and Discord continued to watch in amusement as they all tried to explain to Madness what was going on.
"You STOP NOW!" Madness exclaimed angrily jumping back towards Sonic pushing him, trying to get sonic to stop the trick. It wasn't funny anymore and Madness didn't like it. "STOP STOP STOP!" Madness yelled, pushing on Sonic some more, causing a small chip in Sonic's wing, causing Madness to back up in shock. Madness was never one to have tried to make any friends, in fact the thought was kind of weird and didn't make much sense to him but he remembered back at the trials when Sonic saved his life. "Of course I'm your friend Madness, we all are. And we wouldn't have you any other way then how you really are." Sonic's words echoed in Madness' mind. "My…friend…..My friend." Madness started in small mumbles and steadily grew louder. "My friend….My friend…MY FRIEND, MINE MY FIRNED! MINE MINE MINE!" Madness began to shout angrily and his eyes began to flow, one red and the other blue. His magic began to seep out of him, mixing with the chaos magic of Discords, causing rifts to open and randomly sucking in and throwing things out of them. "MY FRIEND! GIVE BACK! MINE MINE MINE!" Madness exclaimed once again and turned towards Discord who now held a shocked expression on his face. "What, what is this?!" Discord exclaimed. Madness then began to run at Discord as his magic began to warp things all around and suddenly a big flash goes off. Suddenly Night Shine appeared in front of Madness and held her hoof up. "Madness stop! If you let your magic get out of control, you might end up hurting every ponyelse. I understand your upset, we all are but we need to do this together." Night Shine said and put her hoof on his cheek gently and Madness began to calm down and his magic began to return to normal. Discord grinned and shook his head. "Too bad for you, that might have been the one chance you had of beating me, but now you don't." He said with a laugh. "You're wrong." Night Shine said while her back was still towards him and he stopped laughing and looked at her puzzled. "You say there was no cure for the stone stare of a chaos cockatrice but that's because one hadn't been found yet, but there is one cure." Night Shine said and lead Madness back over to Sonic still on the ground frozen in stone and motioned for the others to come over.—"Just like how you were revived, so we to can revive Sonic….by giving him some of our life energy." -- Night Shine said and placed a hoof on Sonic and her horn began to glow. The others copied her and put theirs hooves on him and suddenly a small amount of golden energy flowed from each of them and covered Sonic. The stone began to melt away and soon the white of Sonic's coat was visible. Discord was surprised by the sudden revival but he kept a cool expression still not believing they had any chance of beating him. Soon sonic took a gasp of air and slowly stood up and looked around. "W-what happened?" He asked and looked at the others. "You…you guys saved me…thank you." Sonic said letting a tear fall from his eye and then looked at Discord. "I was wrong for trying to take you on by myself, I see that now. I'm not much of a historian Discord but I can say that sometimes it's good to learn from our past and if the past has taught us anything, it's that working together is always better than trying to do everything yourself. I thought I could protect my friends by doing things myself but now I see, they don't need me to protect them, they need me to fight alongside them." Sonic explained and Discord began to open and close his hand and rolled his eyes. "Yes yes, friendship is magic blah blah blah, but you still don't have a chance of beating me."  Discord said and Sonic grinned. "Your wrong, we have to most chance of beating you. I'm sure you're familiar with a little story known as the spirits of unity right?" Sonic asked with a grin and Discord suddenly looked at him in shock. "How could you possibly know about that?" He asked.  "Well you see, I have a friend who just happens to have heard the story from his parents when they discovered an old library in the everfree forest." Sonic said looking back at Cedar. "Sonic, I'm not sure where you're going with this, we don't know anything about the six spirits of unity." Cedar said and Sonic chuckled.
"Actually Cedar, we know more than you think. You told us that the six where responsible for creating the Elements of Harmony right? Think about it, if these six created them, then each of them had to at least resemble them. And those six spirits gave that power to everypony who realized it and I did just now." Sonic said looking at Discord again. "Madness our friend who always seems to have a smile on his face, he never seemed to take things very seriously but in the end it was thanks to him that this adventure wasn't all doom and gloom. Madness is the spirit of Joy!" Sonic exclaimed and suddenly a red aura glowed around Madness and he smiled wide as he watched the aura. "Next my friend Cedar, who always doubted himself but gave us courage that we needed because we knew he relied on our courage to get through. He came a long way and has learned a valuable lesson and grown into a great pony and friend, Cedar is the spirit of Trust!" Sonic exclaimed and a green aura swirled around Cedar causing cedar to step back in shock. "She never once put herself down and no matter what we went through, her kindness was ray of light that helped us even in our darkest of moments. Night Shine, the spirit of compassion!" Sonic exclaimed and a bluish purply aura surrounded her and she smiled at her friends.
"No group can work on muscle alone and my friend Starry proved that. His intelligence and strong spirit came in handy many times and I'm proud to call him a friend and he is the spirit of Wisdom!" Sonic exclaimed and a purple aura appeared around Starry and he observed it with great interest. "Next, a pony who proved that you don't have to always take life to seriously and that it's sometimes to go at a slower pace and just enjoy life.  And sometimes we all just need to learn at our own pace. Cloudy, the spirit of growth!" Sonic exclaimed and a grey aura surrounded cloudy and he grinned easing back in his flying. "And finally, I always thought that by being brave I could prevent other ponies from having to face their fears but I now realize that was just a mask for me to keep running from my own fear. But now with the help of my friends, I realize that real bravery is being able to depend on others when you're in need and thus making me the spirit of courage!" Sonic exclaimed and a white aura swirled around him.
The auras slowly merged onto the group and power coursed through them and the image of the six spirits of unity appeared around them. "Discord you will not be allowed to do as you wish with this world, we imprisoned you before and we shall do so again." The spirit of courage spoke. "Oh no you don't! I just got out, and I'm not going back so soon. I won't go down without a fight!" Discord exclaimed and summoned the powers of chaos and a colorless aura surrounded him and he charged at the six and the six charged at him. The two forces collided and a large shockwave of energy went off, destroying the walls of the room and leveling a lot of the pillars. The two pushed against each other and slowly began to rise in the air until the two broke away, sending the six in different directions and Discord in separate direction. "I don't get it! I thought we'd be able to seal him right away again! What's going on?" Starry asked and the spirit of wisdom snorted. "He is infused with massive life energy as well as his own power, he is much more powerful then he has ever been. We may not be able to seal him on our own again." The spirit of wisdom spoke. "But you're not on your own, we are here to!" Night Shine exclaimed. "You are brave young one but even with all of your powers combined, the amount of life energy far surpasses that." The spirit of compassion spoke. "Sonic, what do we do? Even with the spirits we can't stop him." Cloudy said and Sonic thought for a moment. He then grinned and looked back at the others. "We can do this, just follow my lead!" Sonic exclaimed and the others nodded. "I know not what you are planning young one but if you truly believe you can stop Discord then we shall support you all the way." The Spirit of courage said. "That's all we need." Sonic said and charged at Discord and the others followed behind and Discord grinned. "Really, you're going to try that again?" He asked and charged at them as well. The two forces clashed once again and began to push against one another. "Now, break!" Sonic exclaimed and suddenly the six separated and Sonic and Courage dashed at Discord and Discord blocked them, then Cloudy and Growth attack and again discord blocked them. They continued to do this until the eventually had to stop for a breather and Discord laughed.
"You see, you cannot beat me! It's just too bad that your little friends with the Elements if Harmony aren't here to help you out. Maybe then you'd stand a chance."  Discord said and grinned.  "Actually, funny you should mention that." Sonic said with a grin and suddenly a large rainbow beam shot up behind Discord and Discord quickly turned in shock to see Twilight and her friends with the Elements of Harmony. "NOW EVERYPONY!" Sonic exclaimed and the six spirits shot forward at the same time the rainbow beam shot forward and as soon as the two hit Discord he began to turn to stone. "No! Not again! NO NO NOOOOO!" Discord exclaimed and then was encased in stone once again. The statue fell to the ground and landed on the ground with a thud. All of the ponies slowly lowered to the ground and both groups approached each other. "Cousin! How did you get here?!" Starry exclaimed with excitement and Twilight smiled. "Well when I noticed you had vanished I went around Ponyville and asked everypony if they knew where you went. Derpy said she saw you and Cedar being chased by a giant blob monster so me and my friends grabbed the Elements of Harmony and came after you in case we needed them to get rid of the blob." Twilight explained. "Then when we reached this village, they told us about a group of ponies that had faced off against some lizard freak and said that they overheard some name Discord. So Twi figured you guys had gone to face Discord on your own if he was coming back and so we followed you guys. Obviously we were a little behind but we got here just in time!" "Rainbow Dash exclaimed with a triumphant grin. "Thank you for all your help guys, I just hope this will be the last time Discord gets out because I don't think I want to have to do this again." Sonic said with a chuckle and all the ponies began to laugh.
